TTR World Snowboardtour

Antti Autti (FIN) - Currently 9th.

With only 5 of a 6 require results posted, Antti Autti is the waking giant coming into the US Open. Looking sure to drop his 20th place at the Billabong Slopestyle Jam in NZ in September. Heading to New Zealand for training, this result belied the onslaught he was about to unleash as the Tour rolled around to the Northern Hemisphere when it arrive in Munich, Germany for the Nokia Air&Style. In a head-to-head knock-out until the Super Finals, Antti (FIN) drew Shaun White (USA)in his first contest outing since his invincible 05/06 season. This would have rattled most riders, but not this precision Samurai. In what was arguably the trick of the contest, Autti knocked a competitive White out of the final, going on to take 3rd overall, behind winner Travis Rice and riding partner, Risto Mattila in a sensational Nokia Air&Style Super Final. The following week-end, he just fell off the podium at the Nissan X-Trail in Tokyo Dome, where his overall score from the combined Quarterpipe and Big Air was enough to bring in 4th place SIX(6)STAR points. Very handy points at this time of the season. He followed that up two weeks later at the O’Neill Evolution with his first career TTR SIX(6)STAR Title in the Halfpipe up against reigning World Champion, Mathieu Crepel, then Tour leader Scotty Lago(USA), marauding Americans, present tour leader Kevin Pearce, Danny Davis and European rippers Iouri Podladtchikov, Markus Keller, Markku Koski and the like. Antti spent no less than 5 weeks at World Number One this season, and 14 weeksin the TTR Top 10. He has kept a low profile leading into the US Open, backcountry filming and shooting, he is almost sure to unleash a yet to be seen bag of tricks on his unsuspecting adversaries. If Antti takes out a title at the US Open, he will be unbeatable with a 6th in the second format. In other words, odds on favourite if you are a betting man.

Travis Rice (USA) – Currently 14th

More recognized from his ground breaking parts in the Absinthe Films series, or his own project, last season’s Community Project, Travis Rice enjoys himself and goes where no man has gone before, whether it be backcountry or in the contest arena, he makes a snowboard sing. Travis announced that being a Tour Champion wouldn’t be so bad in December with his Historic Title at the TTR SIX(6)STAR Nokia Air&Style. No less than 27,000 fans pack the Olympic Stadium as Travis pounded a double back flip BS180. “The most progressive contest I’ve ever seen.” Was Travis’s remark in the post event interview, which he is probably kicking himself as less than a week later, he stomped a double cork 1080 in front of 45,000 Japanese fans in Tokyo Dome at the SIX(6)STAR Straight Jump element at the Nissan X-Trail. A trick he learnt on the last jump of a two-jump final to a standing ovation. With his 4th in the Quarterpipe component, Travis secure a solid 2nd place TTR points from the event. His contest season rolled on to the SIX(6)STAR O’Neill Evolution where his travel plans seemed to be still on Christmas timing, he headed to Davos, Switzerland, to pick up a Quarterpipe result. Not noted for his Halfpipe riding, he had a couple of training runs, had fun, enter the contest and stole a 4th place and valuable TTR points. He followed on with a SIX(6)STAR 8th in the Quarterpipe format, lifting him into 4th. If he takes a Title in the Slopestyle, he can have a run at the Tour Championship in the Halfpipe with anything above a 10th position. Talking to him last night he said, “Damn, I haven’t ridden a Hafpipe since the O’Neill Evolution in Davos!” Either way, Travis will be enjoying himself this weekend. on Tour. A telling factor in a trying year<
